Your neighbors are
already here.
A converted storefront. Tuesday mornings and Thursday evenings. Cushions provided.
The door opens before the city wakes.
No registration. Walk in, take a cushion.
The session begins when the door closes.
I work nights. By the time I get here it's 7 AM and the whole room is already breathing together. That's the only reason I sleep.

The community garden
Tended by members. Open to neighbors.
After 34 years of school bells, I didn't know how to just sit. Now Thursday mornings are mine.

Eight or nine people. A loose circle. No agenda.
We show exactly where
every dollar sits.
No overhead. No salaries. The center runs on volunteer time and neighbor generosity.

People who walk past every day
and one morning stepped in.
I came once because my neighbor left a flyer on my door. That was three years ago.

My wife and I trade off. She goes Monday, I go Thursday. It's the only thing that's just mine.

I've tried apps. I've tried YouTube. Nothing worked until I was in a room with other people.

The silence here is different. It has company in it.

Six AM on a Tuesday I'd rather be anywhere else. But I always stay.

I donated a cushion last year. I sit on it every week. That feels right.

Opened
March 2019
A converted storefront.
Nothing more, nothing less.
We found a lease on a quiet residential block in 2019. Painted the walls the color of overcast sky. Laid down hardwood. Ordered cushions. Put a sign in the window that said Sitting — All Welcome.
People started showing up. Night-shift nurses at 7 AM. Retired teachers on Thursday mornings. Young parents trading childcare for thirty minutes of quiet. Nobody asked anyone why they came.

No membership fees. No suggested donation at the door. We run one fundraiser a year and we're honest about where we stand. Right now we need $3,160 to finish the year. That's it.
